After thirteen years off of air, the McDonalds’ Hamburglar will be back to network television. Being a huge part of the childhoods of many, the thief who only has hamburgers on his mind has aged appropriately. Complete with a new, slightly outrageously-funny look, the Hamburglar is rocking a slick black trench coat and red leather high tops, and also – he’s a dad now.
A far cry from the red-headed criminal most of us remember, the return of the Hamburglar will be noted in a number of spots for McDonalds’ new Sirloin Third Pound Burger, as well as in online videos starting this Wednesday.
“We felt it was time to debut a new look for the Hamburglar after he’s been out of the public eye all these years,” the VP of McDonalds stated, noting that the character has evolved over time, as he has been busy raising a family in the suburbs.
Returning with an all new hashtag #RobbleRobble with regard to his infamous catchphrase, the Hamburglar is here to stay, as McDonalds CEO wants to use the character to create more “brand excitement.“
